St Luke's General Hospital, Kilkenny

St Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny has used the Medi-Shower heads and colour-coded insert system as part of its planned shower maintenance programme.

In a reference provided by the hospital, its Maintenance Officer confirmed that the system had been in use since 2016 across the acute hospital and associated health services for which the maintenance team is responsible.

A practical approach to quarterly maintenance

Unlike a conventional fixed spray plate, Medi-Shower uses a removable, colour-coded insert. This provides maintenance teams with a defined component that can be removed and replaced as part of a planned maintenance schedule, while the main shower fitting remains in place.

St Luke's described the system as a simple and cost-effective way of helping the hospital meet its quarterly shower sanitisation requirements.

Colour-coded maintenance

The replaceable inserts provide a clear visual aid for scheduled maintenance. Different colours can be used for different maintenance periods, helping teams identify when the replaceable component has been changed.

Designed around healthcare maintenance

Medi-Shower was developed specifically for healthcare environments, with a simplified internal design and replaceable insert intended to make routine shower outlet maintenance more straightforward.

The experience at St Luke's provides another example of Medi-Shower being incorporated into an established hospital maintenance programme.

“We have found this system to be a simple and cost effective way of ensuring we meet the quarterly shower sanitisation requirements for this Acute Hospital, and associated Health services that we are responsible for.”
