North West Independent Hospital
North West Independent Hospital in Ballykelly, Northern Ireland, began trialling Medi-Shower in a surgical ward room in February 2015.
The evaluation involved Estates, Infection Control and ward staff and continued for seven months. Medi-Shower remains in use at the hospital today.
Monitoring during the trial
After one month of regular use, water samples from the trial shower were independently tested for Legionella and Pseudomonas. The hospital's reference records that the results were satisfactory, with no growth detected.
Further samples were taken in April 2015 and the hospital again recorded satisfactory results with no growth detected.
These results relate only to the sampled outlet during this individual hospital trial. They should not be interpreted as a general guarantee of microbiological performance in other water systems or healthcare environments.
Operational feedback
The hospital reported positive feedback from its Estates team, Infection Control team and Ward Sister during the evaluation.
Its reference highlighted the colour-coded replaceable inserts, the maintenance process and the ability to replace the outlet component rather than the complete shower head and hose.
From trial to continued use
At the end of the seven-month evaluation, North West Independent Hospital stated its intention to install Medi-Shower more widely across the hospital.
Medi-Shower remains in use at North West Independent Hospital today, providing a long-term example of the system being used in a healthcare environment.
